Play Bingo with us! Multiple wins and winners will be accepted. π The prize is public health, and that means for all! π
From left to right, starting at the top, let's find out why everyone should be playing bingo and getting involved with .
Read for political education: As we encourage masking, we are rooting our actions in disability justice first. We're happy whenever someone makes the choice to mask, but we know that many are having that choice taken away from them through mask bans, anti-mask propaganda, racism, and ableism. Protecting disabled people and their right to mask is essential when fighting stigma and getting people the resources they need. That's why we encourage everyone to read for their own political education. Mask Bloc Delaware has a working group where we meet virtually, read articles aloud, and have discussions.
Build a CR box: "The Corsi-Rosenthal Box is an affordable DIY air-cleaning system made with simple materials found in hardware stores. The box fan pulls air through the filters on the sides and blows out clean air. It is proven to reduce indoor exposure to airborne particles, including those containing the virus that causes COVID-19. The box can also decrease the levels of other particles in the air, such as dust or wildfire smoke." From a one-pager on How to Build a CR Box in our zine library, link in bio.
Mask at the gym: Just like wiping down equipment before and after use, masking at the gym is a routine way to protect your health. The key to masking during exercise is a well-fitting, breathable mask that stays put as you exhale and move. For comfort, a travel fan doesn't hurt. We share indoor air, and covid can stay in a room for hours after someone leaves, so you can be exposed even during a short work out. Covid can impact your ability to exercise long into the future.
Rest as resistance: Audrey Lorde said, βCaring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.β The push "back to normal" to revive the economy in the midst of the covid pandemic is responsible for so many tragedies, including many deaths. We are shifting our focus away from exploitation and extraction toward the health and safety of our comrades. We invite you to join us by masking, making your events accessible, and creating safe spaces to REST as well as work.

Use an air purifier: If you built a CR box, this one's a freebie: just turn it on! If you see an air purifier languishing in the back of your office, dust it off, get it going, and buy some new filters. Mask Bloc Delaware can even lend you one of our devices if you would like to make an event safer, have an illness going around your house, or are just curious about how they work.
Eat at home: Covid is a labor issue. The reopening of restaurants and shops should have come with protections for "essential" workers. A study found that line cooks had the highest risk of mortality "during the pandemic". Until workers do have protections, eating at home and not going out when sick is good practice for reducing illness.
Wear a mask to appointments or at work

asks everyone to at stores, appointments, and on public transportation. Many of us work in one of those places or places where airborne hazards are present.

FREE SPACE
Plan a masked meet-up with friends/comrades: Tell your buddies, "I'm planning on masking during our hang in honor of . Will you join me?"
Help a disabled neighbor: Ask someone in your community how you can help them or make things more accessible for them, and follow through!

Share a disabled artist's work!
Wear a mask at the grocery store: asks everyone to at stores, appointments, and on public transportation.
Mask in class: Pilates, pottery, college, grade school, professor, teacher, or student. Learning is life-long, and masking can protect your brain by preventing you from breathing in viruses and pollution. Air purifiers are great to use in group settings, too. If your cohort is sick, move classes online or provide a hybrid option.
Test before meeting up: 40% of covid cases are asymptomatic. Many other pathogens can be asymptomatic or have long incubation periods. Testing (and staying home when +!) shows that you care. Testing when sick and trying to get a diagnosis is an important part of your healthcare, especially if you end up developing a post-viral illness or having long-term symptoms.
Share a post for long covid awareness: pwLC are still ignored and stigmatized. Even those who contracted covid long before vaccines were available are disbelieved and told repeatedly, "It must've been 'the jab'." Our friends in this community are dying, and we need help. We need care, dignity, ethical research into our conditions, and treatments.
Donate to your local mask bloc/clean air org: Mask Bloc Delaware has received several large donations of masks. If you see perfectly good PPE going into a landfill, call us. Patreon and other ways to support us financially are coming soon.
Talk about long covid: Spread awareness offline, too. Whether you have seen covid's impact on loved ones or think you might have long covid yourself, be brave and talk about it. Our friends in this community are dying, and we need help. We need care, dignity, ethical research into our conditions, and treatments.
Use or refill a free mask box/bag: Check on your free mask station! Does it need to be restocked? Fill it up or ask your local mask bloc for help!
Try a new mask OR Fit test a mask you love: Some of us spent years searching for our favorite mask. Some of our favorite masks did not even exist in 2020! Most masks are made with white men in mind, but we believe everyone should have a mask that they love. Mask Bloc Delaware offers consultations on which mask may fit you best based on your current favorite. There are also tons of ways to customize your fit, like ear savers, nose foam, and chin staples. Check out the zine "What is a good seal on a mask & how to DIY a good seal on any mask" in our zine library, link in bio. Find out more about fit testing at https://fittests4all.com/v2.0/
