Licking County TNR

Licking County TNR Licking County TNR exists to improve the welfare of Licking County community cats. If you are interested in volunteering, please message us through our FB page.

In 2014, a group of cat advocates came together to help a group of homeless cats in licking County. Winnie and her friends were abandoned and small group of concerned citizens, vets and rescues pulled together and trapped all of the cats, provided spay/neuter and medical care (including a full mouth extraction of all Winnie's teeth due to dental disease) then found homes or barn homes for all of

them. This experience of rescuing 62 cats from a property in Newark, Ohio planted a seed that would grow into Licking County TNR. Winnie and her 49(+) friends deserve to always be honored along with the people who worked tirelessly to rescue them. For that reason, her story will continue to appear on our page in its history. Today, Licking county TNR is a 100% donation funded and volunteer staffed, 501 (c ) 3, not-for-profit program that provides services for un-owned, community cats in Licking County, Ohio. Services offered include colony assessment/management consultation and trap-neuter-return services. Trap-neuter-return services include equipment loan, training and support on trapping, holding and transport of feral cats for TNR. Sterilization clinics are held once or twice a month and are by invitation only. To qualify for services, colonies must reside in Licking County and have a caregiver committed to providing food, water, shelter, appropriate medical care and continued TNR for the colony. The colony must have cat advocates willing to participate in the TNR process with support from LCTNR as needed. How to join our team:
Volunteers are needed for trapping, transport, housing and sterilization clinic staff. The Menu button on our page will open up a volunteer application. How to apply for services:
Orientation trainings are held at least once a month to provide cat advocates with the opportunity to learn about TNR, colony management and how our program helps those helping community cats. Individuals only need to attend an orientation once, after that, they will be able to request services whenever a new cat shows up or if an existing colony cat is injured and in need of care. Please remember that the need for these services are great and we are only one small group of volunteers. Your patience is greatly appreciated. As always, if you have an urgent need, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will see if we can help

We're open! It was a lot of work getting it set up and we are so grateful to Refugee Canyon Veterinary Services . This is the 8th year they've let us take over their front yard for the National Road Yard Sales to raise money for our program.

Lots of neat stuff and surprise donations showing up and a full horse trailer to unload. Every dollar raised goes to the spay/neuter of unowned cats living outside in Licking County and returning back outside after surgery (community cats). This will be our only big fundraiser this year so help us make it a good one.

Well, Mother Nature wasn't helpful but we still got 22 cats through clinic today. A bit of a wet drop-off and pickup today.

Thanks to Tricia Weimers, our lunch angel today for the incredible shredded crack chicken sandwiches, potato salad, cole slaw and cheesecake 😋

Dr Fredley was our surgeon today and Maria was our RVT. Malia was working as induction assist, but since she's going into her third year of Veterinary school she popped back and neutered several of the dozen boys. She even got to scrub in on her first spay! Dr Fredley got her started and talked her through the entire surgery and closing.

Sara got a taste of recovery with Erin showing her the ropes. Training day on multiple levels.

Our mission is to improve the welfare of unowned community cats in Licking County and, to honor Rita Stout, Denise and Marv Shump made a donation in her memory to help the feline lives we serve. What a great way to honor her memory.

Clinic Day! We had 32 community cats checked in but one boy turned out to be already neutered.

It was the day of eyes for Dr Fredley today--several of the cats had bad eyes due to conjunctivitis or wounds today. Slightly more boys than girls today, including another pregnant cat with a pyometra (uterine infection) killing the fetuses and her from inside.

Thanks to Jamie Gilbert, Coldwell Banker Realty for providing our clinic crew with lunch (still looking for lunch angels for our June clinics 😉😽).

Johnstown peeps--is anyone missing this boy?

He was trapped at a feeding station in the area of Shipley Rd, Johnstown. He turned out to be already neutered. No microchip so no way to know what his story is.

*He's fine, just sedated since there was no way to know he was already neutered until he was asleep.

Thank you!
We got our first quarterly statement from the Kroger Cares program for this year and in just a 3 month period, we'll receive enough in donation from the Kroger Cares program to TNR more than 8 cats.

The money is allocated to us based on the 115 households who have their Kroger card linked to our program. For every dollar they spend at Kroger, Kroger Cares donates a percentage to the designated charity. You can go to the Kroger website at the bottom of their home page under the About Us and click on community services to get to their Kroger Cares page (https://www.kroger.com/i/community/community-rewards). Just follow the instructions to create an account (free) and select your preferred charity.
