Law Enforcement and the Community Come Together To Help Those Less Fortunate.

Starfish Assignment Licking County is an all-volunteer organization that works with law enforcement officers in Licking County, Ohio to identify people who need a hand-up. We then match those needs with volunteers who can donate a few minutes or hours of their time to make a connection and make a difference.

We specialize in micro actions--things like donating food, household goods, or clothing; helping officers to set up events that support their communities; or helping an individual determine what path to take next so they can help themselves. Volunteers can “like” us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or sign up for our email list. When an officer contacts us with a need, we’ll get the word out. We adapt our responses to meet the requirements of the people who need help.

Our primary purpose as an organization is to help people, and by partnering with law enforcement officers, we find we’re often able to reach people other charities might not, particularly hard working people going through tough times.

Our secondary purpose is to help educate the community about what police officers do on a daily basis. We want to show the public that the overwhelming majority of police officers go to work every day to try to make a difference. When people have negative opinions about law enforcement, we are all less safe.
