Hey STEAMERS!

This season, has deeply pushed us in ways unimagined. We have expanded our capacity, connected with new community members, invited new guests into the farm space, learned new skills, created new experiences and memories, and are deeply grateful for the opportunities!

As we wrap up the season strong we are thrilled knowing so much time, energy, and wisdom has been poured into STEAM URBAN. We are grateful for every being who supports and continues to support this movement.

We have so much to reflect on and are looking forward to close this season strong. ! Here are some highlights from the last couple of weeks.

Hey STEAMERS!! 🌱🚚

As we close out the season STRONG, we’ve added a few new market stops to connect with more communities, bring fresh, locally grown food to new people, and continue spreading the word about the importance of shopping local, supporting our farmers, and advocating for urban agriculture! 💚

This October, we’re taking the STEAM URBAN Artisan Farmers Market on the road! From Newark to Trenton, we’re creating more opportunities for our communities to access fresh food, connect with local food systems, and invest in the people and places that nourish us.

📍 Catch us at our upcoming market stops:

🌿 Monday, October 12 | NCHC – Ludlow Street, Newark | 10 AM–12 PM

🌻 Saturday, October 17 | STEAM URBAN at the Garden Social, Trenton | 12–5 PM

🥬 Monday, October 19 | NCHC – Broadway, Newark | 10 AM–12 PM

Every market is an opportunity to strengthen our local food system, support farmers, and demonstrate why urban agriculture is essential community infrastructure.

Come shop fresh, support local, and help us spread the word! Bring a friend, share this post, and meet us at a market near you. 🌱

Hey STEAMERS 🌱✨

Today was a beautiful day on the land 82° and full sun, the kind of energy we build dreams in.

We’re excited to share that we welcomed an incredible visit from NJIT and are stepping into an evolving partnership with their architecture program. Deep gratitude to Professor Emily for helping bring this into motion.

This marked Day 1 of our architectural project scope coming to life. As we prepare to present to council for the purchase of our lot, we’re grounding this process in community voice. For the past four years, we’ve been building consistency on this land and across the city through our markets and programs and just as intentionally, we’ve been uplifting student voice in real, tangible ways.

Now, 4th-year architecture students are joining us through a service-learning project to help shape the future of this space. Together, we’re envisioning:
🌿 A more functional greenhouse
🐓 A chicken coop
🥬 A wash & pack station
❄️ Cold storage (not just conversation!)
🚿 A bathroom & potential office space

All while preserving the integrity of the farm, integrating sustainable systems, centering culture and engaging the community through surveys, storytelling, and outreach.

We are beyond inspired by this brilliant, creative, and visionary group of students each bringing their own artistry and perspective to the work.

This is what it looks like when land, learning, and liberation align. ✊🏾🌍
And this is only the beginning.

HEY STEAMERS!!! 🌱✨

We are so honored to be in community with such powerful partners through our Artisan Farmers Market. This isn’t just a market — it’s a movement.

We’re building a model that uplifts local producers, farmers, and artisans while expanding access to fresh, culturally-rooted, and high-quality goods for our community.

Every week we grow this vision: more connection, more resources, more abundance. Tap in, pull up, and support the people growing and creating with purpose. 🌿🖤

Peace family ✊🏾🌱

This Juneteenth, we gathered on the land in Newark for a powerful Community Work Day in collaboration with Rock Steady Farm 🌱 rooted in liberation, care, and collective action.

Our community showed up with intention and love. Together, we built our handwashing station, brought our watering can fence mural to life, planted new seedlings, and poured into the land in ways that felt both grounding and expansive. Every hand that touched the soil was a reminder that this work is bigger than any one of us , it’s legacy work.

We were also nourished deeply by Chef Charlene of Charlene Messer, who not only fed the people but shared a live food safety demo centered on preparing fresh salads and greens straight from the farm. Knowledge, nourishment, and community—all in one space.

Juneteenth is a call to remember, to reclaim, and to rebuild. And on this day, we honored that call through land stewardship, learning, and collective care.

Grateful for every steward who showed up. The land remembers. We continue 🌿
