A friend stopped by today with more watermelons and Clover could not get enough! Literally, she couldn't get enough and asked for more treats, which we happily obliged!

Clover and her sister Ivy have been with us since June and have just been absolutely thriving! Our sheep family accepted them quickly and they became part of the herd. Clover is the sweetest girl who always wants love and attention, while her sister Ivy is more of an introvert. They are a perfect pair, and we're so lucky to be able to care for them.

We know it's not the best picture but stick with us!

We asked everyone to comment yesterday on why they thought Pumba was restless all day and spilled his trough. This is why! He loves his best friend Hope and wanted her to come out and lay next to him ♥️

Pumba was brought in as a foster July 2025, and officially adopted this Spring. He's been living in his own space where he can safety interact with our big pigs, Duncan, Dottie, and Hope, but lately has been feeling a little lonely. We have plans to integrate him this month and can't wait to see him finally zooming around with his friends!

Pig integrations take time and a lot of planning. They have a hierarchy and will literally fight for top pig, so to ensure everyone's safety it was best to wait to integrate him until we felt we could make the process as successful as possible. If things don't work out, we already know that him and Hopey will be bestest friends and plan to put them together if all four can't be together, but that's just a backup plan and not a long term solution.

Teddy update!

Teddy has been having ups and downs throughout the day every day, but he still has that same Teddy Bear spark 99% of the time.

I spent a lot of time with him this morning checking him over, making sure everything is set up for him for the heat today, and also gave him a sanitary shave.

He has been having diarrhea which is not unusual for him during this heat, but it has impacted his wool quite a bit. After some time, and very careful movements with scissors, he is all cleaned up and wiped down and feeling a little better on his bottom! I wipe his butt down daily regardless, but today the wool was just too bound up to get him as clean as he needed to be for his comfort and my peace of mind.

Apparently Pumba missed the memo that it was over 100 degrees today and he needs water in his trough!

We think we know why he spilled his trough and was restless all morning, and the answer might suprise those who don't know him well. Drop your guesses below!!!

Well, it's over 100 degrees right now (September 1st) and I don't have many updates to share, so here's a video of baby Hope from 2022!

Hope was a "truck jumper" who literally jumped off a transport truck on the highway, just weeks old, where she was heading to a growing barn (CAFO) where she would either be fattened up to be sent to be k*lled, or used as a breeder, stuck in a small gestation crate unable to even turn around and have her babies taken away for the same fate.

Today, Hope is living her best life in sanctuary, is about 4ft tall and weighs aprx 1000lbs, and is unconditionally loved beyond words. People often comment on how large she is, but this is typically how large her breed gets when they've been rescued and can live their out their natural lives.

Our lives are better with Hope ♥️

Teddy is taking some much needed R&R after he had a rough start to the morning. Sage is his emotional support human while he's on stall rest she also goes with him to most vet appointments because they're best friends when times get hard.

Teddy was rescued in January 2022 at about 8 years old. We were told by his caregiver at the time that he was used in a petting zoo and couldn't be caught or handled once in his caregivers home. I walked up to Teddy that day and put a halter on him which surprised everyone, including me! But Teddy knew he was going home.

Teddy is now 12 or 13 years old and has lived a wonderful life at the sanctuary so far, and we hope he has many more good days with us!

Caring for an individual on hospice, no matter the species, is hard. We're heavily monitoring his care and quality of life every day, but as long as he still has that Teddy Bear spark in his eyes and wants to keep going, we keep going with him.

One of my best friends visited today with the main intention to help Pumba integrate with the big pigs. As anyone in rescue/sanctuary life knows, things don't always go to plan, but today was actually a blessing in disguise!

Not only is Kate one of my best friends, but she's also a genuinely badass human who runs her own sanctuary (if you don't follow them, please do!). She is such a mentor, positive influence, and so incredibly knowledgeable for all things piggies (and in general). Her heart and kindness is incomparable and I'm so honored to have her in my life.

So instead of Pumba joining the big kids today, we set up for a more successful integration to happen in a few weeks. We worked on the pastures, discussed best and worst case scenarios, and worked with Pumba directly on his rambunctious attitude which went so well!

Today was such a great day to spend with her, and the kid's always love her visits too!
