For generations, Indigenous midwives have been the sacred anchors of their communities—not only bringing new life into the world, but protecting the cultural heartbeat and resilience of their people. Celebrating Indigenous midwifery means preserving living traditional knowledge system passed down through generations, acknowledging the irreplaceable role these caregivers play in championing maternal health and advocating for vital policy reforms and human rights frameworks for Indigenous caregivers.

Join us in sending deep gratitude and respect to these incredible guardians of life. 🌍🤎

The EarthCodes Observatory, in partnership with the Pace University STEM Collaboratory NYC - and the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, is launching a 12-month, $200,000 pilot program to build the EarthCodes Data Commons (ECDC). This initiative aims to address the critical gap in current AI systems, which often lack access to the vast amount of unpublished, undigitized, and inaccessible ecological research.

At the heart of the partnership is Dr. Lauren Birney, an urban STEM educator with 30 years of experience encompassing both high school and university tenures. Dr. Birney was awarded the largest grant in Pace University’s history in 2014 from the National Science Foundation. The project, entitled “Curriculum and Community Enterprise for New York Harbor Restoration in New York City Public Schools”.

We are living in a time when AI systems are being trained faster than we are safeguarding ecological knowledge.
At the we seek to reverse this through ECDC ECOSYSTEM. It will be the world’s first regenerative ecological data layer for AI.

Janine M. Benyus is a biologist, author, and innovation consultant who popularized the concept of biomimicry—the practice of solving human challenges by emulating nature’s time-tested patterns and strategies. She teaches us to look at nature as mentor. Instead of extracting, we should look to it for inspiration.

This year, the annual Wisdom and AI summit was held on May 13-14th in the Bay area, bringing together experts in Artificial Intelligence with leaders in well-being to explore the role of wisdom in the age of AI. Kamal El Watar, the Earth Codes’ founder and Board president, also attended the two-day summit.

It was such a privilege to listen to some of the leading thinkers on the confluence of artificial intelligence and wisdom traditions,” said Kamal. “This is a very exciting time where a sea change can occur that brings us back in harmony. This conference highlights that we are all needed: the scientists, the artists, the dreamers, etc , all while listening to other species and all cultures.”
