Congratulations Joanne Gerenser!

Borough President Vito Fossella offered his congratulations and thanks to Dr. Joanne Gerenser as she retires after a 44-year career at Eden II, including serving as its Executive Director since 1995.

He presented her with a proclamation declaring September 18, 2026, as “Dr. Joanne Gerenser Day” on Staten Island for her remarkable career and dedication to helping children and adults with autism find their own unique voices and place in their communities.

Our thanks to Dr. Gerenser for making a profound difference in so many lives.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of the first responders, families, and countless individuals whose lives were forever changed.
We remember the strength, compassion, and unity that carried our communities through an unimaginable day.

Our hearts are broken over the loss of our dear friend, incredible advocate, and true community hero, Chris Trieber.

Chris had a heart for our children. He stood beside them, fought for them, believed in them, and made sure their voices were always heard. Knowing Chris was in our corner gave us strength, hope, and the comfort of knowing that our children had someone who would always stand up for them.

His loss leaves an immeasurable hole not only in our hearts, but throughout the entire Eden II community. Chris touched the lives of so many children, families, and people in our community, and we will forever be grateful for his kindness, his friendship, and his unwavering commitment to making a difference.

Thank you, Chris, for believing in our children, for advocating for our families, and for always being their voice when they needed one. You were truly our hero.

Rest peacefully, Chris. You will forever be part of the Eden II family and will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Your legacy will live on through the countless lives you touched and the difference you made every single day.

We lost a wonderful friend, a passionate advocate, and an extraordinary member of our community, but we will never forget the love, compassion, and hope you gave to so many.

You will be deeply missed, Chris, and you will never be forgotten. 💙
