Parallel Exit Physical Theatre & Contemporary Circus
3X Drama Desk nominee
http://www.parallelexit.com

Parallel Exit's mission is to create performance and educational programs that honor and forward the history of the variety arts and embrace a twenty-first century sensibility. Parallel Exit's productions have earned the company critical acclaim and two Drama Desk Award nominations for Unique Theatrical Experience. New pieces have been presented in large venues (The New Victory Theater, The Guggenheim Museum), schools (through The Lincoln Center Institute and LEAP), and through partnerships with other organizations (Making Books Sing). More than 15,000 audience members are said to have been whisked away with a sense of whimsy by Parallel Exit productions. In addition, over 15,000 New York City public school students have been inspired and benefitted by Parallel Exit education programs, which employ the performing arts as a means through which to instill both creative and life skills. Parallel Exit is the creative force behind the 2015-16 Big Apple Circus production The Grant Tour.

A great day at Bryant Park as SUNSET CIRCUS returned to its roots as an outdoor show. First imagined and performed during COVID times as an experience to bring people together, we were thrilled to play to thousands of New Yorkers in the park yesterday, and to bring an actual sunset back into the SUNSET CIRCUS. Great thanks to the whole team at Bryant Park for making this a truly magical day for one and all.

Jay Gilligan and Kyle Driggs are the co-creators and performers of Hologram, a brand new work combining juggling, lighting, and sound to evoke the qualities of holograms. The title of the show refers to the work of Dennis Gabor, who invented holography in 1947. He was trying to improve the resolution of the electron microscope when he accidentally discovered how to make a hologram.

Every image in this show is created with real objects - an analog approach for our very digital times. Jay and Kyle have combined their extraordinary juggling abilities with remarkable creativity and innovation. The result is a show you don’t want to miss.

Hologram plays for two special previews at 3AM Theatre in NYC September 1 & 2 before heading to the Hupstate Circus Festival for performances on September 6. Tickets and info here: https://ticketstripe.com/events/604109364520708

For Hologram, Kyle Driggs wears multiple hats - co-creator, performer, lighting designer, technical director. His focus is not only on the physical images he's creating with Jay Gilligan, but on how lighting partners with those images to evoke the qualities of holograms. The result is pure visual magic. Join us for two special performances on September 1 and 2 at 3AM Theatre before we take the show to the Hupstate Circus Festival.
