Judge Merchan recently announced he will delay Donald Trump sentencing that is/was scheduled for September 18, 2024. Now he is pushing it back to the end of November.
The Legal Guardian is a statue that illustrates the a judge has to ignored his/her emotional response to a case he/she is overseeing.
The blindfold symbolizes covering the eyes so one would not see. The statue cannot see, but just hears what’s going on.
It is harder to have an emotional response to hearing the facts rather than seeing the people or person of the case.
Judge Merchan would be please to remember that he has a duty to the facts of the case not to the accused.
He swore “To perform his duty to the best of his ability,” not to his future political aspirations.
“Do the right thing!”
