This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Legal Momentum is shining a light on the legal barriers survivors face—and the power of legal advocacy to help break them down.

Domestic violence can impact every part of a survivor’s life: their safety, housing, employment, finances, immigration status, and ability to access justice. Survivors deserve more than awareness. They deserve protection, resources, and meaningful access to the law.

This month—and every month—we stand with survivors and work toward a future where no one is forced to navigate abuse alone!

📢 September 23 is a National Day of Action for the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (H.R. 909 / S. 1892).

The bipartisan CVFSA would help stabilize the Crime Victims Fund and address ongoing reductions in VOCA funding, which supports critical services for survivors and victims of crime nationwide.

Stable funding means continued access to essential victim services, including legal assistance, counseling, shelter, and advocacy.

Today, alongside so many others, we mourn the loss of Gloria Steinem, a trailblazing feminist leader and champion of equal rights.  Gloria collaborated with Legal Momentum and was a force in the movement for gender equity. Through decades of advocacy, organizing, and leadership, she helped advance women’s participation and leadership in every sphere of life, from the workplace to government and beyond.  We honor her extraordinary legacy by continuing the fight she helped lead: a world where everyone can live, work, and learn free from discrimination. 🕊️
