🏠🎬 ASIAN CINEVISION x TAKE ME HOME

Asian CineVision is proud to co-present a special screening of TAKE ME HOME, Liz Sargent’s intimate debut feature exploring family, disability, caregiving, and the search for independence.

🎥 Anna (Anna Sargent), a middle-aged Korean adoptee with a cognitive disability, cares for her aging parents while trying to maintain a fragile balance of meeting everyone’s needs. Alongside her sister Emily (Ali Ahn) and father (Victor Slezak), Anna must confront difficult questions about the future. All while remaining determined to build a life where they can all thrive.

🎙️ AAIFF Programmer, Charlotte Whitman will be introducing the film and welcoming audiences into this special screening experience.

Taking place September 17–20, this year’s festival is centered around the theme “Honoring Our History and Securing Our Future.”
Through film and storytelling, PIFF celebrates the deep connection between our past, present, and future, honoring the histories, cultures, and traditions that shape Pasifika communities while creating space for the next generation of storytellers to imagine what comes next. From stories of resilience and reclamation to visions of hope and possibility, this year’s lineup celebrates where we come from and where we’re going.

At this year’s AAIFF, we had the utmost honor of programming ACV co-founder Christine Choy’s films as a tribute to her work and legacy and a talkback with her close collaborators and family. Third World Newsreel presents the Christine Choy Retrospective: ten preserved and digitized films from a pioneering Asian American documentarian whose camera tracked labor, incarceration, immigration, and liberation for half a century. Oscar-nominated for “Who Killed Vincent Chin?” and honored in the Library of Congress, Choy filmed the stories the record left out. This fall, they return to the screen: September 9-13 at Anthology Film Archives and September 13-16 at DCTV’s Firehouse Cinema.
