Meet the 2026 Call for Kindness Women In STEM Fellows! 🔬💜

This category, supported by the Henry Luce Foundation, funds five youth-led projects focused on expanding access, opportunity, and support for girls and young women in STEM. 

Our Fellows recently joined Riley’s Way Executive Director Dr. Christine O’Connell at the Henry Luce Conference in NYC, and we couldn’t be prouder of the future they’re building.

Let’s Be SVL, led by Jason V., gives college students a simple framework—stories, value, and listening—to navigate difficult conversations with empathy and respect. They promote kind leadership by helping students communicate across political and social divides. Jason envisions Let’s Be SVL growing into a national model for campus dialogue, expanding it to reach students everywhere. He hopes to build partnership with civic engagement and dialogue-focused organizations, to help create a culture where respectful conversation is the norm.

Moo-vement For A Change, founded by Aarya B., is a youth-led nonprofit working at the intersection of animal welfare and environmental sustainability, with a specific focus on reforming practices within the factory farming industry. It began from Aarya’s long-standing connection to animals and a pivotal experience abroad where she experienced first-hand how malnourished animals were. When she couldn’t find a youth-centered organization to take meaningful action, she decided to build one herself. Her work has helped rescue over 800 cows across multiple states, cities, and even countries through their sanctuary partnerships.

Cameras4Kindness, created by Brody S. and Ryan S., is a youth-led initiative that empowers children with cognitive and physical disabilities through photography-based workshops designed to build confidence and creativity. What started as a local idea has grown into a multi-state program operating in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Illinois. Their workshops have helped children open up, build confidence, and find joy in creative expression. With partnerships across more than 10 organizations, their impact now reaches hundreds of families.

Today, and every day, we remind ourselves that it is Riley’s kindness and friendship that guides our work. Riley’s spirit is woven into every friendship made, every act of kindness, and every young leader supported through Riley’s Way.

Riley’s Way Foundation was established by Mackenzie and Ian Sandler in 2014 to honor the life of their late nine-year-old daughter, Riley Hannah Sandler. Riley was the truest friend who loved helping others.
