Our 3rd and final recipient is, Rosa Idalia Reyes!

Rosa is also a recent graduate from International High School at LaGuardia Community College! She has started her freshman year at Mercy College with her mind set on becoming a physiotherapist!

I’m her letter of recommendation, Rosa was described as “academically focused and dedicated, vivacious and inspiring, and strong and empathetic. Most importantly, she is a motivational leader of BIPOC students at our school.”

Our second scholarship recipient is, Xiomara Quispepachari!

Xiomara is a recent graduate from International High School at LaGuardia Community College. This fall she has started her journey into higher education at Mercy College and plans to become an elementary school teacher and help shape the minds and hearts of the leaders of tomorrow!

Xiomara expressed being grateful for her Quispeparachi and Llanque family but above all her parents “for all of the sacrifices they made so that I have the opportunity to have a better future in this country.”

Wishing Xiomara all of the best in this next chapter of her life! Bravo, Xiomara!!!

Help us in congratulating this year’s Scholarship Recipients!

This year we partnered with New York State Mentoring Program’s Latina Mentoring Initiative to celebrate their stories through our annual Vagas With Degrees Series.

also pledged $5,000 in scholarships for LMI applicants.

3 LMK Mentees were chosen by our board to receive scholarships totaling 5k.

First up we have, Gabriela Silva! Gabriela recently graduated from International High School at LaGuardia Community College. She has started college this fall at Hunter College and aspires to be a neurosurgeon and help contribute and improve the medical system in the United States.

Cheers to Gabriela and wishing her all the best on her educational journey!
