Gloria Steinem was one of the defining voices of the modern feminist movement, a writer, organizer, and activist who spent her life challenging the structures that determine whose voices are heard, whose stories are remembered, and who holds power.

For more than five decades, she fought for women’s rights, racial and economic justice, reproductive freedom, and collective liberation. She understood that the personal and political were inseparable, and that when people shared their stories, they could begin to see the systems shaping their lives and find the power to change them.

Her life’s work leaves us with both a legacy and a charge: listen to one another. Tell the stories that have been silenced. Question the structures we inherit. Imagine what does not yet exist.

As Steinem reminded us, “Revolutions that last don’t happen from the top down. They happen from the bottom up.”

For one month, WE the People became more than an exhibition. It became a gathering place. A space where neighbors met neighbors, where history sparked conversation, where young people found inspiration, and where art reminded us of what is possible when community is at the center.

To everyone who visited, volunteered, shared a story, attended a program, or spent a quiet moment with the work, thank you. You made this experience what it was.

We’re especially grateful to our partners at Community Coalition for helping bring this vision to life, and to every artist, organizer, volunteer, and community member who poured their heart into this space.

This may be the closing chapter of the exhibition, but it is not the end of the story.

Because WE the People was always an invitation to imagine, to connect, and to continue building a more just future together.
