Today, we celebrate the 36th anniversary of Disability Independence Day—the day the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990.
The ADA transformed our country by affirming that people with disabilities deserve equal access, equal opportunity, and the right to fully participate in every aspect of community life. It was a landmark moment—but it was never meant to be the finish line.
Today also reminds us that Disability Pride Month is about more than looking back. It’s about celebrating the disability community, amplifying disabled voices, advocating for meaningful inclusion, and recognizing that our world is stronger because of the unique perspectives, talents, and experiences of people with disabilities.
At Chance 2 Dance, July is a special month—but our commitment doesn’t end when the calendar turns. Every dance class, every performance, every partnership, and every joyful moment is a celebration of inclusion, acceptance, belonging, and the belief that everyone deserves a chance to dance!
Today, and every day, we celebrate a world where everyBODY shines in their own beautiful way!!✨
Happy Disability Independence Day. 💙
