House Lives Matter HOUSE LIVES MATTER IS A COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND MOBILIZING INITIATIVE CREATED FOR AND BY THE HOUSE & BALLROOM COMMUNITY.

House Lives Matter, an initiative of the Heat Program, will mobilize and cultivate leadership of the House and Ball community (HBC) to educate individuals and youth to advocate for their own needs and rights. HBC participants will gain skills/tools to advocate for themselves and their community. The larger community will be more unified, with an advocacy agenda around which they can organize. Part

icipation in the project will reduce social isolation and connect individuals and youth who are often at the fringes of society to a network of peers that are working for social change. HIV+ and high-risk individuals and youth will engage with trained HBC leadership to inform service providers and policy makers of the needs/challenges facing HBC in order to better serve and create “HBC-friendly” services/policies.
