Black Maternal Health Week is crucial because it shines a spotlight on the unique challenges and disparities faced by Black mothers during pregnancy and postpartum. This week is a vital opportunity to raise awareness, advocate for equitable healthcare access, and support initiatives that prioritize the well-being of Black mothers and their families. By fostering conversations and sharing resources, we can work towards eliminating health inequities and ensuring that every mother receives the quality care she deserves. Let's come together to uplift Black maternal health and create a future where every mother is safe, supported, and celebrated.

✨ 2025 Highlight: Honoring the Next Generation of Nurses ✨

One of our most meaningful memories of 2025 with the New York Black Nurses Association was our 54th Annual Luncheon & Scholarship Celebration, where we recognized seven exceptional nursing students for their dedication, excellence, and community impact.

This year’s scholarship recipients included:

Vivian A. Leslie Memorial Scholarship
• Francine Benewaa Bronya
• Maryam Kebe
• Angeline Sam

Marjorie Anita Andrews Scholarship
• Shakeema Hampton

Laura Cooper Doe Scholarship
• Neena Davis

Kimberley Ennis Foundation Scholarship
• Britney Delgado
• Kendra-Ann Collis

Each scholar represents the strength and future of our profession. Their passion inspires us to continue uplifting and investing in emerging nurse leaders.

Thank you to our generous sponsors, whose support made this year’s awards possible:
NYU Langone Health
Kimberley Ennis Foundation
Dr. Richardeanea Theodore-McIntosh
Dr. PATRICIA A. MCLEAN

Your commitment to advancing nursing education and equity helps ensure our students have the resources and encouragement to thrive.

Congratulations again to our scholarship honorees — we look forward to witnessing the extraordinary impact you will make in healthcare and beyond! 💛💜

✨🏆 Celebrating Excellence in Nursing 🏆✨

The New York Black Nurses Association is honored to share that we were presented with the Nightingale Award at the 50th Anniversary Nightingale Gala hosted by the Center for Nursing at the Foundation of NYS Nurses, Inc. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing nursing excellence, advocacy, and community impact across New York State.

👏 We also extend heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed colleague, Joan Madden Wilson, for receiving the Driscoll Award. Her dedication, leadership, and contributions to the nursing profession inspire us all. Special Thanks to Deborah Elliott and the organization.

This milestone evening celebrated 50 years of honoring the legacy of Florence Nightingale and the outstanding nurses who embody her spirit of service and innovation. We are proud to be part of this legacy and will continue to champion diversity, equity, and excellence in nursing.
