State Forester Patty Cormier recognized with Public Service Award by Maine Forest Products Council

MILLINOCKET — The Maine Forest Products Council recognized Patty Cormier, Director of the Maine Forest Service, with the organization’s prestigious Abby Holman Public Service Award at its Annual Membership Meeting on September 13. Presented by Maine Forest Products Council Vice President Alex Ingraham, the award recognizes Cormier’s dedication to sustainable forest management, wildfire prevention and community leadership.

“As Director of the Maine Forest Service, Patty has demonstrated strong support of Maine’s forest industry with her enthusiastic promotion of Outcome Based Forestry and her tireless efforts on behalf of the Spruce Budworm EIS program,” said Ingraham. “She effectively advocated for its funding both in Augusta and in Washington, D.C. and coordinated the implementation of this new, complex program across many stakeholders. The Council is appreciative of Patty’s advocacy on behalf of Maine’s abundant forest resource.”

About the Abby Holman Public Service Award
The Abby Holman Public Service Award is an annual award given by the Maine Forest Products Council to an individual (or individuals) in recognition of outstanding service on behalf of Maine’s forest products industry.

The criterion for this award is simple. The recipients must demonstrate a level of passion, loyalty, and dedication to Maine’s forest products industry, to good government, and a robust economy much the same way that our former Executive Director and friend Abigail “Abby” Holman did.

Along with the entire Rotary world we mourn the death of our District Governor Serge Poulin. Serge was one of the most energetic and giving Rotarians you could ever meet. Our prayers are with Marie-Christine and Serge's family as they pass through these difficult days. May he rest in peace.
