It’s Mental Health Awareness Month and we’re pleased to announce that will be the Master of Ceremonies of our upcoming Drag Away the Stigma extravaganza on June 20th, supporting su***de prevention within the LGBTQ+ community!

Marti is a NYC based drag artist, political figure, and television personality. They have appeared in hit shows on Hulu, NBC, The Food Network, and hosted their own talk show - The Marti Report on Logo. They made history as the first non-binary candidate for NYC office when the ran for City Council in 2021 and also served as a 2025 NYC Pride Grand Marshal.

As an Asian American male, Vuong grew up with mental health stigma.

Now, as a su***de attempt survivor, Vuong has turned his story into purpose and volunteers for su***de prevention with AFSP’s San Diego chapter.

"I want to create a world in which people, especially those of color, can openly have conversations about mental health and su***de prevention."

In 2018, Vuong Tran was living in one of the most beautiful cities in America — San Diego — but experiencing what felt like an impossibly dark season of depression. After surviving a su***de attempt and spending five days in a psychiatric hospital, Vuong found hope in community and in therapy.

AFSP NYC is partnering with Big Apple Recreational Sports (BARS) for a special trivia night on Thursday, May 28th taking place at the lively q***r bar VERS. Grab a few friends, form a team of 2–5 people, and join us for an exciting night of fun, challenging trivia! Teams will compete for bragging rights and a grand prize valued at $500.

More than just a great night out, this event supports an important su***de prevention for the LGBTQ+ community.
