STRENGTH AND DIGNITY FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS
UN statistics report that at least one out of three women across the globe has been battered, coerced into s*x or subjected to some form of abuse during her lifetime. Statistics show that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic abuse annually. Violence against women and girls is a global epidemic that has destroyed more lives than all the wars of the world’s history. It occurs in public and private spaces. In places as sacred as churches as well as in brothels. In war-torn environments and seemingly peaceful homes. Our work raises awareness of these problems through sensitisation campaigns and advocacy for the rights of women and girls in underserved communities.
Women Relief Services (formerly Gender Danger) is a Cameroon born nonprofit which seeks to promote gender equality by fostering the rights to good health, education, and security for women in relegated parts of Africa. Our goal is to eradicate gender-based violence in communities by working to promote the health and safety of women and girls living in culturally hostile environments. Our approaches are fashioned according to the uniqueness of each community we serve. We believe in using good tradition to change harmful traditions. Our driving force is the belief that health and security are fundamental catalysts to gender equality. We are on a mission to ensure that women and girls in the most relegated parts of the world are equipped with the information and tools they need to break out of the dragnets of cultural oppression.
