Opera on Tap (OOT) was born in 2005 at Freddy’s Bar and Backroom in Brooklyn and incorporated in 2007 to promote opera as a viable, living and progressive art form and to support the developing artists who continue to keep the art form alive. What began as a small monthly gathering of ambitious, classically trained singers looking for more performance opportunities, has grown into a producing orga

nization that has gained a loyal audience base and national recognition as an innovative force on the classical music scene. Through its Chapter program, which now has twenty-three vibrant national chapters, OOT has created a large network of performers, creators, and supporters.

Opera on Tap will be kicking off Pride month with OPERA’S GAYEST HITS— A celebration of all things q***r in opera! This show will be held at the Tired Hands Mt. Airy Biergarten on May 28th at 6 PM. FREE ADMISSION (Suggested donation $15) Expect to hear twists on operatic classics, featuring members of Philadelphia’s most fabulous opera troupe!

FREE SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT: Opera on Tap Philadelphia artists will be popping up at this year’s Fantasy Renn Faire, hosted by the Queen & Rook Game Cafe! We will performing at 4:30 and 7:00 on the 100 block of South Street on Saturday, May 2nd— exact locations to be announced. Come out to hear all manner of Rennaisance-themed music, ranging from lute songs to contemporary art song. Featuring OOTPHL bards Kyle Chastulik, Greta Groothuis, Logan Laudenslager, and Valentina Sierra in their Rennaisance best. See you on South Street!

If you’re like us, curling up with a good book - particularly a spicy fantasy book - is important self care! On April Fools, Wednesday, April 1st at 7:00pm, join us as we turn the romance up to 11 at A Novel Idea. Hear operatic tales of fantasy and romance and find your next favorite book perusing A Novel Idea’s expansive library. We are delighted to be back in this bookstore and community space!
