WHAT BROKE US BUILT THIS.

The powerful message of The 8 Project, a creative rehabilitation residency program in New York for IDF soldiers navigating the invisible wounds of war through art, structure, mentorship, and community.

Yesterday, Jewish Parent Academy Leaders had the privilege of participating in a powerful workshop and gallery tour at The 8 Project, founded by Tomer Peretz and led by the incredibly talented Sahar Haba.

We experienced firsthand the remarkable artwork created by artists in residence and had the special honor of spending time with Andrei Kozlov, who is currently an artist in residence at The 8 Project. Walking through his artwork in chronological order while hearing the story behind each piece was incredibly moving. Having the conversation in Russian made the experience especially intimate and meaningful for both Andrei and our group.

We concluded the evening by adding our own brushstrokes to the community mural and creating artwork inspired by everything we had seen and heard.

The 8 Project believes that growth and recovery are not defined by what was broken, but by the courage to build something stronger from it. After experiencing it firsthand, we can say that mission comes to life in a remarkable way.

What an incredible evening in Walnut Creek!

🎓 Congratulations to the Inaugural Bergen County Cohort! 🎓

What began as a group of parents coming together to learn, connect, and explore their Jewish journey has quickly become something much more: a vibrant community built on commitment, leadership, philanthropy, and a shared vision for the future.

This remarkable cohort has invested in themselves, their families, and their community. They have asked thoughtful questions, built meaningful relationships, and demonstrated what is possible when people come together with purpose.

While last night marked a graduation, it is really just the beginning.

With new programs already on the calendar and many more in development, we are excited to continue learning, growing, and building alongside this incredible group of leaders and families.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Bergen County’s first JPA cohort such a success. The enthusiasm, engagement, and sense of community that emerged from this group exceeded every expectation.
