This Saturday marks the beginning of YALD’s 11th season. It brings forth a great sense of pride that we have managed to bring forth, and maintain for over a decade, a safe space for the children of our community. They are the foundation of the future, and we are proud to play a role in developing their leadership and perseverance.

Concurrently, it also marks the 20th anniversary of one of our nation’s darkest days, 9/11. On Saturday, we will be dedicating the day to a family who tragically lost a beloved member on that fateful day. This family will be in attendance, and one of the family members will honor his late brother by singing our national anthem.

We will be using our platform to highlight the good that did come from such an evil act — Through the midst of tragedy, a sense of pride was re-born in our community. The sense of obligation to support our fellow man, many acts of kindness, and perseverance even through what was meant to break us as a people. Many lives were lost on that day 20 years ago, but we remain faithful to honoring them and the legacies they left behind. YALD is honored to be a part of such a symbol of strength, and showing our youth that no matter what happens or what we go through, we always have each other to lean on, and we hope to continue furthering that mentality in our students for years to come.

The YALD Youth Clinic will be starting back up in September!!!

YYC is a 10 week program in which we focus on teaching your child the basics fundamentals of football in a fun and safe environment.

As customary within the YALD organization, collectively our focus and efforts have always been towards the growth of both the individuals involved and our community.  This week exemplified that as our season continued with the same intensity in which it began.  
The day kicked off with the 49ers taking on the Giants.  Sporting new threads, Bryan Cruz started at the Quarterback position.  He was impressive as he completed 22 of his 36 attempts and also found the endzone 3 times.  Sean Carter was on the receiving end of 10 of the passes and 2 of those touchdowns.  On the defensive side of the ball, Katherine Rodriguez had a breakout game.  She accounted for a total of 4 sacks. Giants over the 49ers by a score of 19-6.
The center game was played by the Falcons and Packers.  For nearly a decade, both coaches who know each other very well provide one of the most exciting rivalries at YALD and this game was no different.  The low scoring affair was highlighted by Quarterback Javier Duran finding Christian Guzman twice in the endzone.  Christian Guzman also added two interceptions keeping the Packers at bay.  Falcons beat the Packers 14-13.
Our final game was contested by the Buccaneers facing the Bears.  Both teams are loaded with talent and are looking for that next win.  Capitalizing on last week’s momentum, Sean Medina continued his extraordinary play.  Quarterback Christian Firpo connected with Sean Medina for touchdowns.  Luis Javier also found the endzone with a pick6 as the Bears beat the Buccs by a score of 18-12.

We are excited to announce our first virtual fundraiser!

Get a chance to win a few fun prizes while empowering our communities.

How to participate?

There will be 75 bingo slots up for raffle, each slot requires a minimum donation of $20.00. You can purchase as many slots as you want or buy one slot for any desired amount higher than the requested $20.00 to help procure the proper equipment needed in order to have a productive and successful 2020 season this coming Fall.

How to donate?

Donations must be submitted through PAYPAL or yald.org. Once we receive your donation, we will assign your name to a slot. Please make sure to include your name and “Online Fundraiser” in the description field when making your contribution. A confirmation email will be sent to you, which will include your assigned slot number(s).

YALD Founder, Carlos Castellanos, will be going live on Facebook and Instagram to announce the lucky winners using a Deluxe Metal Bingo Cage on July 21st, 2020 at 8:00 p.m.
