Last year, a two-year-old girl named Agor arrived at a medical clinic with a life-threatening condition far beyond her family’s ability to treat.

What followed was a story of resilience, compassion, prayer, and a global community coming together to help save her life.

Today, nearly ten months after surgery, Agor is healing, growing stronger, and experiencing the joy of simply being a child again.

Her story is a reminder that lasting impact happens when people choose to care deeply and act boldly for vulnerable children.

Today, on International Literacy Day, we celebrate the power of literacy to open doors, create opportunities, and equip the next generation of changemakers.

In Sudan, nearly 1 in 4 young people lack basic literacy skills, while in South Sudan, only about 35% of adults are literate.

This year, 163 students in LUV’s anti-trafficking network achieved literacy benchmarks — giving them a stronger foundation to continue their education and create lasting change in their communities.

As we enter this month, join us in prayer for protection, healing, and provision across LUV’s network in Sudan and South Sudan. Even in the midst of uncertainty, we are grateful for the ways God continues to sustain our children, staff, and communities.

Join us in praying with us this month:

• Pray for children living through trauma and war across our anti-trafficking network. Pray that God would comfort their hearts and bring healing to their minds and bodies as they receive trauma-informed care and the consistent support of a community where they know they are seen, safe, and loved.

• Praise God for rain in South Sudan! After months of drought from May through July, rains began in early August and are bringing much-needed nourishment to the farm at Hope For South Sudan. Pray for continued rain, healthy crops, and a plentiful harvest that will provide fresh food for our students.

We’re deeply grateful for your continued prayers and for standing alongside LUV’s children and communities each month.

Today, on Women’s Equality Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women around the world — especially the women in Sudan and South Sudan who continue caring for their families and communities despite immense challenges.

At LUV, we’ve seen how investing in women through education, agriculture, leadership opportunities, and economic development can create lasting impact for entire communities.

When women are empowered, families grow stronger, children are better protected, and hope continues to multiply for the next generation.
