Our new season is upon us and our first concert is going to be a great one!

Rachmaninoff's epic Symphony No. 3 is a barn-burner, Rautavaara's "In the Beginning" glistens in a kaleidoscope of sound, and Martinů's "Magic Nights" song cycle is exquisite and haunting (this will be its U.S. Premiere!!).

Soprano Kendra Berentsen is the wonderful soloist.

Day 8 - the last (and final) day of our NYRO Travel Program in and around Salzburg...

A short ride out to Schloß Hellbrunn for a guided tour of the Waßerspiel "trick" fountains and beautiful gardens.

Then, off to the Salzburg Marionettentheate for an enchanting performance of "Karneval der Tiere – eine animalische Trilogie" which includes: "Babar" (music by Poulenc), "Ferdinand the Bull" (music by Ridout), and "Carnival of the Animals" (music by Saint-Säens).

And the big finale, our gala Farewell dinner at St. Peter Stiftskulinarium.

What an amazing week it's been! To our intrepid group who were so much fun to spend time with - such lovely people without exception - we look forward to having you back with us in our future adventures!

And for everyone else, stay tuned for our next NYRO Travel Program in 2027 - Aix en Provence!

Day 7 (the penultimate day) of our NYRO Travel Program in and around Salzburg...

Morning: Guided backstage tour of the Salzburg Marionette Theater - fascinating!!

Lunch: Am Mönchsberg 32 (top of the mountain with great views!).

Afternoon: Private guided tour of the Museum der Moderne (also on the top of Mönchsberg).

Evening: Wonderful concert at the Mozarteum - Camerata Salzburg with Rudolf Buchbinder, piano/conductor playing 3 of the Mozart Piano Concerti: K.271 (E-flat major), K503 (C major), and K466 (d minor)

A very full and exciting day!!!

Day 6 (the antepenultimate day) of our NYRO Travel Program in and around Salzburg...

Up the funicular to the Hohensalzburg Fortress/Castle - that "summit of the cliff that beetles o'er his base" overlooking the Salzburg landscape...

Then...lunch at the venerable Stiegl-Keller brewery and restaurant - mit Schnitzel, natürlich, und sehr leckeres Bier!!

Day 5 of NYRO Travel Program in and around Salzburg...

Today - a walking tour of artisan shops in Old Town Salzburg...button-makers, umbrella-makers, weavers, and a mid-day drink at the venerable Sporer Liköre-Punschemanufaktor to wrap it all up.

Fascinating!

Day 4 of NYRO Travel Program in and around Salzburg...

Mozart, Mozart, Mozart! His Geburtshaus in the morning, lunch, and his Wohnhaus in the afternoon.

THEN...a once-in-a-lifetime concert - the final public performance in Salzburg of the Hagen String Quartet (they are retiring from performing and will now only teach after this farewell tour ends in July) playing an all Schubert program. One of the most amazing concerts we've ever heard.

Day 3 of NYRO Travel Program in and around Salzburg...

Walking tour of Old Town Salzburg (stop at Fürst Caffe for the coffee and some of the Original Salzburg Mozartkugel; Organ concert at Salzburg Cathedral; Lunch at Restaurant Herzl; A backstage tour of the Salzburg Festival concert/opera theaters - WHEW!!!
