Global Potential Media Festival

Global Potential Media Festival A youth lead multi-media festival. The Global Potential Media Festival is brought to you by the Global Potential Media Advocacy Program. We inspire action.

Global Potential empowers youth across borders to turn challenges into opportunities. We inspire change. Global Potential works with dedicated and high-potential youth from low-income urban neighborhoods in New York, Boston and Paris. We provide them with transformative life-skills through a unique 18-month program combining international service work, cultural exchange and social entrepreneurship

. After 6 months of educational workshops on critical social issues, GP youth experience 6 weeks of cultural immersion, volunteering in the rural villages of Nicaragua, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Upon returning home, the youth spend 10.5 months receiving mentoring and leadership training, and then create projects with a positive social impact. As advocates and catalysts for change in their communities, GP youth develop the vision and entrepreneurial skills to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Tawndy DaRoza's reaction to viewing GP documentaries!

"Watching the various videos I kept thinking about the reaction I would get if I showed them to any adult on the street; I feel like they wouldn’t believe me if I told them young people made this video. As a new intern learning about what Global Potential stands for and about its mission, I think its amazing that young people from the city and adults volunteer their time to make an impact in the world whether its local or globally. Personally I only know a few people my age that want to make a difference in the world regardless if it is small or large because it isn’t as commonly valued today as it should be. Therefore, it is astonishing that a group of young people are taking the initiative to gain skills, spreading awareness of the conditions people face in undeveloped countries, and are learn how to help people that do not have the same luxuries and privileges we have in America."
