I am often reminded by those closest to me, how special this organization is. My goal has always been to spread kindness in world of struggle and heartache. My heart has always gone out to children, especially to children like myself. I understand what living with a chronic illness is like. The toll it takes, the advanced abilities it provides, the importance of finding strength and the ability to educate others. One of the missions of Rise Up to Type One will always be to spread kindness forward and beyond. When I was 6 years old, my kindergarten teachers brought Barbie’s and other toys into my PICU room during a time of uncertainty and fear. That is my first memory with Type One Diabetes, and since that day it has lived with me. All I want to do for the rest of my life is to pay it forward💙

Sweet Campbell, I am so happy to be a tiny part of your story. A tiny part of that mission, to pay it forward. I’ll always be cheering you on! Thank you for the sweet card, it made my day!!

With love 💕, Ashley

Campbell was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 2 in November of 2023. Leading up to his diagnosis, he had a month or two of not acting himself and not feeling himself. He was drinking a large amount of water, peeing SO often and so much. He started bed wetting after being completely potty trained for 6 months and he felt tired, sluggish, was constipated, and sick. It was missed for multiple weeks that it was type 1 diabetes. The one ER doctor treated him for constipation and thought it was a virus. The next day, following that visit, I knew in my gut something was really wrong. He couldn’t stay awake. His actual pediatrician was the one who discovered it was diabetes after checking his urine and by checking his blood via finger poke and sent us straight to the ER. At the ER, he was in DKA with a blood glucose over 800 and his a1c was 12.4
Since diagnosis, he has been an absolute warrior. He’s taken on everything with such strength. He really inspires me every single day.

In the hospital room where my six-year-old self lay, the air felt heavy with uncertainty. Tubes and monitors surrounded me, a stark contrast to the innocence of childhood. The diagnosis of type one diabetes had transformed my world into one of blood sugar readings, insulin injections, and frequent hospitalizations.

Surviving that near-death experience ignited a flame within me. I resolved to transform my struggle into a source of strength for others facing similar battles. Fueled by a newfound purpose, I embarked on a mission to create an organization that would be a beacon of hope for those navigating the challenging terrain of type one diabetes.

Through tireless efforts and unwavering determination, I established an organization committed to raising awareness, providing resources, and supporting individuals and families affected by type one diabetes. No one should face this journey alone, I believed, and my organization became a testament to the resilience that adversity can breed.

In the eyes of every child grappling with a diagnosis, I saw reflections of my younger self, and in their triumphs, I found echoes of my own. The near-death experience became a pivotal chapter in a story of strength, compassion, and the enduring impact one person can have on the world.

5 YEARS!

It’s almost hard to believe! But we’ve done it. Five amazing years, a half decade of bringing joy to kids! Not only to kids, but kids battling illnesses and other medical challenges many of us cannot even fathom.

Over these last 5 years I have learned SO much through the hundreds of children and families I have worked with. Each child showed incredible strength, hope, and fearlessness. That is something I will always remember. Through each child I learned how to appreciate the small things. I learned the value of life, health, and happiness.

Though these last 5 years have been filled with AMAZING memories, it is also important to remember the young lives gone too soon. I will never forget the five lives lost over these years. It was an absolute pleasure and honor to create packages that brought them and their families happiness and joy. Though these lives have left this world, their spirits live on in so many ways I never thought could be possible. Their lives have left a profound impact on my life.

I want to thank each and every single one of you. Thank you for supporting this dream and mission. 5 years ago I had a small dream- create one package as my “good deed” for the year. Now we are hundreds in, and growing rapidly.
I would also like to especially thank my donors. Without your support this growth would not have been possible.

Cheers to FIVE YEARS! {and so many more} ❤️
