So when politicians bring up “Sharia law,” the question is simple: who is actually trying to replace the Constitution? Where is the evidence? Who has the power to do it?
Because right now, this sounds less like a serious legal concern and more like a political scare tactic aimed at Muslims.
You can oppose religious law in government without attacking an entire faith community. You can defend the Constitution without turning millions of American Muslims into suspects. And you can believe in God without pretending America belongs to only one religion.
The United States is not “under Muhammad.” It is not supposed to be “under” any religious leader.
It is supposed to be under the Constitution.
