What About Us Inc. provides realistic and sustainable approaches that transforms foster care youth, ages 16-25, from independent living to adulthood through multi-faceted mentoring programs that assist with education and professional development.

The organization is based in Brooklyn, New York and is the brain child of former foster youth, Felicia Wilson. After 17 years in the foster care system, she began reflecting on her mantra, “Surround yourself with people that will help you grow and live your best life.” She realized that the foster care system can only assist you until you are 21 years old at which point you age out and are left without assistance in life. When she went through this she thought, “Well, what about me.” Then realized that more people were going through the same thing; which birthed “What About Us.”

While the foster care system does assist youth, those emerging into adulthood become lost in the processing. The chaos of adolescence When youth are transitioning into adulthood they need more guidance than a brief counseling session. Those routine interactions for young adults creates an internal chaos and worry that leaves them saying, ‘ What about us?’
