It is with great sadness that we share with you the news of the loss of our beloved James Cataldi, who left us on February 26. An avid conservationist, James was known as the "Birdman of Inwood" and dedicated many years of his life to restoring and cleaning the North Cove in Inwood. For this, he was recognized by the US Environmental Agency (EPA) with the Environmental Quality Award in 2012.
Prior to his work with conservation, James worked on Wall Street as a software engineer. After 9/11 he had an epiphany to pursue a purpose dedicated life and left behind a successful career to clean and restore the North Cove from a toxic dump to an urban wildlife refuge. James loved life, especially wildlife in all its forms and will be dearly missed by wildlife and the Northern Manhattan Community.

Additional information will be available soon.
