Narrative 4

Narrative 4 Equipping young people to harness the power of stories to drive change in their communities.

Narrative 4 is a global network of educators, students and artists who use art and storytelling to build empathy between people while equipping them to improve their communities and the world. Using our core methodology, the story exchange, we help students understand that their voices, stories, actions and lives matter, and that they have the power to change, rebuild or revolutionize systems.

From South Korea to Kentucky: a global exchange! 🌎✏️

Academies of Bryan Station High School in Lexington, Kentucky, recently hosted students from Kwangshin High School (κ΄‘μ‹ λ°©μ†‘μ˜ˆμˆ κ³ λ“±ν•™κ΅), South Korea, for a powerful cultural exchange. Although Kentucky and Seoul are 6,800 miles apart and the students do not speak the same language, the project proved that stories can bridge any distance.

The exchange was led by Dr. Ron Chi, Chief Innovation Officer and former principal at Fayette County Public Schools. He saw the trip as an opportunity to foster genuine connections across borders, cultures and languages.

"We’re all walking around all day with these wonderful stories inside us, and nobody asks about them and we don’t tell them. But if we can [tell more stories], I think we’ll be able to build stronger connections with everyone."

Recently, New York University students and faculty braved the snow to join Narrative 4 for a Story Exchange Workshop. Part of A Mile in My Shoes β€” the acclaimed exhibition from the Empathy Museum β€” the workshop was designed to foster a profound sense of connection and understanding.

Around 35 participants paired up at random and shared a personal story. They then retold their partner’s story in the first personβ€”as if it happened to them.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this powerful workshop! Learn more here: https://hubs.li/Q04bnM7P0
