The 2025 LGBTQ+ Fresh Fruit Festival "10-Minute Play Contest"
Accepting submissions for competition. Deadline is February 15. No Fees. Competition to be held the week of March 24th. Cash prizes. APPLY AT www.FreshFruitFestival.Com
“More Fun than a Barrel of LGBT Playwrights!” – Well, we agree with that press, but this is also about career-building, and showing the incredible range and diversity in the minds of current writers.
The Basics
• Competition week of 3/24
• Theatre for the New City - 155 1st Ave., New York, NY 10003
• Press goes out by January 22
• Acceptance by week of February 17 – NO FEES of any kind to participants
• All plays must be no longer than 10 minutes.
• Each play must be self-produced
• Each play will have tech time in the theatre, and use of basic set pieces
• Three nights of Competition: 24 ten-minute plays. Eight on each of 3 days
◦ Day 1 – Wednesday March 26
◦ Day 2 – Thursday March 27
◦ Day 3 – Friday March 28
• Two Winners announced each night by Fresh Fruit Judges and Audience Ballots; 1 additional play chosen by the Fresh Fruit Judges.
• Nine plays will compete in the Finals on the weekend for 3 grand prizes – Winners are chosen by Fresh Fruit Judges and Audience Ballot; 1 additional play chosen by the Fresh Fruit Judges.
◦ Finals – Sunday March 30
• All Four finalist plays will go on to participate in our spring Mainstage Festival.
