NYC is planning five NYC Groceries stores — one in each borough — and has committed $70 million in capital funding for store construction and fit-out.

As of now, two sites have been selected: La Marqueta in East Harlem, and The Peninsula in Hunts Point. The Bronx location is expected to open in 2027, and La Marqueta, in 2029.

Reshare by The Best of Harlem:

A couple weeks ago, we raised concerns about the Grandscale Murals that came down at 125th & Park to make way for the temporary NY vs NY Finals court.

We were excited to have the tournament in Harlem. Our ask to was simple: When you leave, put Harlem back the way you found it … or better.

Well … Nike listened. 🙏🏽

We’re happy to report that Nike has committed funding to bring the Grandscale artists back to repaint the murals after the temporary court comes down.

Giving credit where it’s due.

Once Nike understood what ’s Grandscale Mural Project has meant to East 125th Street and the years of work invested in beautifying this corridor, they were 100% receptive and willing to do what was necessary to make things right.

There are still details to work out. The property is expected to move toward development, so stakeholders still need to determine how and when the new murals return.

Not every community concern has to become a corporate fight. Sometimes the community speaks, people listen, and everyone finds a way forward.

Thank you to the teams at Nike and for listening and stepping up to the moment. 🙏🏽❤️ You are appreciated.

And now, let’s get to the fun part. Victory Park will be holding tournament games through Saturday when they will crown champions in both boys and girls games.
