FMDG Music School is a vibrant music education community for people of all ages with vision loss. We are now registering new members to join our Adult Chorus in 2026-2027. Be part of an exciting ensemble that brings choral music to audiences around New York City and beyond. Each season includes performance opportunities at student recitals and our annual Performathon. FMDG students performing in our 2026 season of The Filomen Sessions have been featured by our many community partners, including the Recording Academy’s Grammy Townhouse, WQXR FM, and the Met Museum.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, September - May
Location: Interchurch Center (61 Claremont Avenue, New York, NY)

Many thanks to Iris Gross Derke and Dr. Rob Derke for representing FMDG Music School, “The Fil”, along with Matthew Whitaker 😎 at the GRAMMYS Townhouse!

The Grammy Townhouse, last night. I was there because of Rob, Executive Director of the Filomen M. D’Agostino Greenberg Music School, where students who are blind or have low vision study music at the highest level. The school’s new partnership with the Recording Academy is just beginning. A proud night, and a fitting one for Disability Pride Month. A glimpse, if you are curious.

Today is the day! Join FMDG Music School, “The Fil” for Piano Hour at Andrew Heiskell Library for Braille and Talking Books at 4 pm!
FMDG Music School returns to our favorite library: The Andrew Heiskell Library for Braille and Talking Books branch of the NYPL! The New York Public Library Andrew Heiskell Library
“Piano Hour” will feature young and talented students from the FMDG Piano Academy playing a variety of musical styles from Bach to Pop.

It’s FREE and open to the public, so please join us!

Are you a music lover in the vision loss community? Come cool off with some hot tunes.... and Chill with The Fil!

Play or sing whatever you want, all styles welcome. Let us know if you would like us to have karaoke songs on hand!

Today is the final day of LEAP Block 3 in Iowa with The Filomen M. D’Agostino Greenberg Music School! 🎵👏

Congratulations to all the dedicated and talented students who stretched their musical muscles over the last 2 weeks!! We can’t wait for tonight’s performance!

Over the past two weeks, students have honed their skills in Brazilian percussion and music production software. Yesterday, they visited a local recording studio, where they recorded several musical pieces. This afternoon, they’ll wrap up the block with a final performance. 🥁

FMDG’s Fantastic Summer Field Trips continue!!! This was our first time to the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum for their exhibit entitled “Art of Noise”. And as a music school, we sure know how to make noise! 🎶🎸🥁🎹
Thanks to the wonderful staff and educators, we were able to have hands-on, tactile experiences with a variety of music-making designs spanning well over 100 years! Our students had a blast learning about new-to-us designs for playing music, and we only scratched the surface. We can’t wait for the next one!
