We live in a world where technology and social media have become an essential part of our everyday lives, and where the opportunity to make a positive difference is as easy as a tweet or upload away. Inspire Bright provides a platform for young minds to become positive influencers, motivators, and volunteers by creating a voice that makes a strong social impact and illuminates important causes eff
ecting teens. Teens and young adults are encouraged to “make a difference”, but what does that really mean? Do most young adults know exactly how they can make a difference? For two typical 15 and 13 year old girls, our social lives and plans for the upcoming weekend seemed to take priority over school work and tests. When our grades began to slip, our parents immediately took action and limited the use of our phones and computers. Although it seemed like our parents were inflicting an unjust punishment and restricting a huge part of our lives, they were actually adding a new dimension. Coincidentally, around the same time, our mom was invited to sit in on a meeting with the leaders of Girl Up in Washington D.C. Less than 24 hours later, we found ourselves on the way to D.C. As our parents had hoped, we instantly developed a sensitivity toward the ‘bigger picture’, and started to understand the hardships faced by teens our own age. Additionally, we realized that the unproductive time spent on our computers could be used for something genuinely important and urgent. During that 5-hour car ride back to New York and endless conversations later, Inspire Bright was founded. In 2012, we learned the sheer importance of putting down our phones, shutting our computers, and focusing on our schoolwork. We started Inspire Bright, a non-profit organization, to encourage, educate, and inspire bright young minds to make a difference in the world surrounding them. Specifically, teens and young adults helping other teens and young adults. Our message is simple. We are the influencers and leaders of tomorrow who are taking a stand today. We are getting our opinions and ideas heard and putting them into action. We want to inspire you to make a difference in your own communities and around the world. We are Inspire Bright- join us!
