GRASSROOTS celebrates the simple magic of storytelling through song. With an acoustic, folksy, and minimalist feel, GRASSROOTS peels back the layers of sound to get to the complex and dynamic narratives at the heart of musical theatre. Get back to your GRASSROOTS at this intimate evening of musical storytelling. TRAILBLAZERS is a celebration of the new sounds of musical theatre. Jus

t as The Lisps brought their indie rock band to The Good Person of Szechwan and Dave Malloy created an electronica opera with The Great Comet of 1812, Trailblazers will push the boundaries of convention. NYMF’s Student Leadership Program (SLP) gives the opportunity for emerging artists, composers and theatre managers to present their work to musical theatre fans and industry leaders. The event is ideal for musical theatre fans of all walks of life that enjoy new music by promising, up-and-coming composers. This year’s concert series marks NYMF’s third SLP concert, following its inaugural year’s success, PART OF IT ALL, hosted by composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for one show and Drew Gasparini for the next. Students involved in GRASSROOTS and TRAILBLAZERS hail from schools across the country, such as Columbia University, Pace University, New York University, Marymount Manhattan, Harvard University, and many more. HEAD AND HEART

Our truths hang in that balance.

It’s said that the brain isn’t fully developed until age 25, but the battle for the mind is ongoing. Logic demands the clearcut fact, the rational guide. Emotion fights for the untamable colors, a raw feeling, an intuition. So how do we, as young people, navigate the tension of logic versus emotion that is prevalent in everything we do? Brought to you by an all-female team, Head and Heart explores this question, searching for our most authentic selves through a balance between the two.

The event is ideal for musical theatre fans of all walks of life that enjoy new music by promising, up-and-coming composers.
