Informative day at United Nations , where this year’s theme is access to justice for all women and girls,

I started the day with the CFUW Canada GWI delegation and Graduate Women International members from Australia, Austria, the USA and Great Britain.

The most powerful session was organized by Afghanistan, where I heard about the intense struggle and discrimination Hazara women are facing. Mr. Darabi, a survivor of Taliban brutality, recounted how he was tortured and how his wife was forced to marry another man.

Later, at a round table hosted by the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the UN on access to justice for women facing the death penalty, Sabrina, an American woman wrongfully sentenced to death, shared the horrific ordeal she endured and how a courageous lawyer saved her life just days before her scheduled ex*****on.

From Afghanistan to North America, the struggle for justice and gender equality is the same, even if the context and scale are different.
Together we can make a difference.

Busy and inspiring day at at United Nations Headquarters.

The highlight was a powerful session jointly organized by UN Women , the EU, Cyprus and Mexico on cyberbullying and the concrete steps countries are taking to combat online gender-based violence. The message was clear: digital spaces must be safe spaces for women and girls, and governments, platforms and civil society all have a role to play.

Another important moment was the signing of the renewal of the MOU between the CFUW Canada GWI (CFUW), the Mexican Federation of University Women and Graduate Women USA.

Together, we are reaffirming our shared commitment to defend women’s rights, advance gender equality and empower women and girls through education and leadership.
Proud to stand with so many dedicated advocates working across borders to ensure that women’s rights are non‑negotiable; online and offline.

Since 2022, I’ve participated in several walks and events to support Iranian women in their courageous fight against an authoritarian regime that continues to deny them their basic rights. I had the honor of meeting and hearing from Nazanin Afshin-Jam, the inspiring Iranian-Canadian human rights activist and former Miss World Canada. Her message of resilience and hope deeply moved me. Today, I stand in solidarity, praying and advocating for all the brave people of Iran who continue to fight for freedom, justice, and human rights. 💚🤍❤️
