🌀👏🏽WE HAD OUR FIRST JUPI NATIONAL CONGRESS 🇵🇷🙏🏽
A huge thank you to all that attended, volunteered, and planned our first ever JUPI national Congress. It was a huge success and many lessons were learned over the weekend. Not only did we have membership across the country and in Puerto Rico travel to participate, but we had youth, students, and comrades from solidarity orgs and the community show up in person and virtually.
We heard about the student movement from Portavoz, Nairobi from Colectiva Estudiantil Combativa UPRRP. We also learned about the importance of sectoral organizing from Niki in Adolfina Brooklyn, Michaela from International League of Peoples’ Struggle, and Jom from BAYAN USA. We had incredible workshops led by Puerto Rican Historical Collective Adolfina Brooklyn CCNY SJP 🇵🇸🦫 Colectiva Estudiantil Combativa UPRRP and Juventud Unida por la Independencia, USA members. Part of our program also included a reflection on machismo in the movement, what we want to see in the work to acknowledge our varying perspectives and identities, our assessment points of our work thus far and more. Our Sunday morning mass action in front of the PRFAA where previously mentioned orgs and Compas de la Diáspora 🇩🇴 spoke was well attended.
