We have amazing news to share!

Thirty law students and paralegals from the School for Justice Nepal have completed the theoretical and practical (internship) parts of their courses. This means that most of them have successfully completed the SFJ trajectory.

The SFJ trajectory includes internships. The girls interned at police offices, where they helped thousands of women and girls to report crimes, for example. In doing so, they removed the barriers that prevent women from reporting crimes.

Some of them will work at police stations until the new paralegals start. Others will continue studying and will start new programs at university.

The girls act as change agents: they work hard to change the existing system of impunity and human trafficking from within. We are very proud of them! These girls have the power to bring about change! Together we can do so much more in the fight against s*xual exploitation.

We often get the question if we only rescue girls. The answers is no, every life is important to us and we work equally as hard to rescue girls, boys and transgender children. But around 95% of the times girls are held in brothels, so that’s why we most of the time communicate about rescuing girls.

13 RESCUED AND 25 ARRESTS WITH FREE A GIRL (Free a Girl and Free a Girl USA)

A young woman in Southeast Asia, “Mary”, had what she thought was a nice teacher. After some time, he asked her to marry him. She agreed, and he kept showing great love and affection for her throughout the beginning of their marriage.

Later, that kindness turned, and he began to s*xually abuse her. This abuse grew into exploitation as he sold her to another man for $100. This man then sold her to clients, selling her multiple times a day. After 20 days of this exploitation, she was sent back to her abusive husband who intended to sell her yet again.

Only then was she able to contact her family and give her location. Local law enforcement contacted Free A Girl, and together they rescued Mary.

The survivor is now receiving counseling in an aftercare home and will soon reunite with her family. They continue to search for the preparators of these crimes alongside law enforcement.

O.U.R. is honored to have supported several operations carried out by Free a Girl in India so far in 2022. Mary is one of 13 survivors rescued in these operations. In addition, 25 perpetrators were arrested for allegedly participating in human trafficking and exploitation.

Investing in Yazidi girls’ education is critical to the community's recovery and long-term stability. In Sinjar, boys are twice as likely as girls to attain an education. Nadia's Initiative aims to address this educational gap by renovating, furnishing, and reopening schools like Balstan Primary School for Girls. This project has provided over 450 girls with access to education, empowering them to build brighter futures.
