To our incredible students who received the Sankofa Bridge International Travel Scholarship, thank you for embracing this once-in-a-lifetime voyage to Ghana, West Africa, with open hearts and curious minds. Your willingness to step outside your comfort zone, immerse yourselves in another culture, and connect with history is something you’ll carry with you forever.
To our amazing parents, thank you for trusting Sankofa Bridge with your children. We recognize the faith it takes to allow your child to travel across the world, and we are deeply grateful for your confidence in our mission.
Together, we explored places that brought history, culture, and identity to life. From walking through the powerful dungeons of Cape Coast Castle and standing before the Door of No Return, to paying our respects at the home and resting place of W.E.B. Du Bois, riding ATVs through breathtaking landscapes, relaxing at the beautiful Bojo Beach, experiencing Ghanaian traditions, tasting local cuisine, connecting with the people, and seeing daily life on the African continent firsthand, this journey was about so much more than travel. It was about education, heritage, perspective, and transformation.
These memories, lessons, and connections will last a lifetime, and we are honored to have shared this experience together.
