About TED TED is a nonprofit social enterprise devoted to ideas worth spreading. TED started in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then, it has expended in both scope and reach to include three annual conferences, TED, TEDActive and TEDGlobal; the award-winning TEDTalks video sites being accessed by millions around the world; and numerous programs such as TEDConversations and the TEDPrize. It is a reinvention of the ancient art of spoken word with speakers providing insight into anything from dazzling technology and leading-edge science to the richest veins of human creativity and interconnection. These days they have just one thing in common: they have something remarkable to share, and they are able to share it in a remarkable way. Some of TED Past Speakers include: Bill Clinton, JJ Abrams, J.K. Rowling, , Madeleine Albright, Arianna Huffington, Steve Jobs, Nancy Pelosi, Donna Karan, Al Gore. About TEDx TEDx was created in the spirit of TED to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
