Coming up a week of work for me and opportunities for anyone interested in beekeeping, honey or just looking to do something different.

I am way behind this season (added many projects to my already busy schedule). This is catch up week and I can always use help/company especially while harvesting honey.

No experience necessary just be willing to work and get sticky. Here are the days with my plans:

Sunday 8/11 Nassau County
go to 2 apiaries and just check on them and work at getting rid of Small Hive Beetles, go to 3rd apiary with 7 hives and inspect them and hopefully harvest honey. On the way back stop in Glendale to check on 2 hives and then go to Finback Brewery and harvest 3 hives. Of course we’ll grab lunch and grab some tastes after working at Finback.

Monday 8/12 Manhattan and Queens
Go to 31st floor roof next to the 911 Memorial Garden and return empty harvested boxes and deliver the honey they got. Harvest 3 apiaries Astoria 2hives, LIC 2 hives and Maspeth School roof 3 hives. Of course we will grab lunch at some point.

Tuesday 8/13 Queens??
Do whatever we didn’t get done Sunday and Monday then harvest a school rooftop in Ridgeway (yes the elevator goes to the roof) 7 hives there and need to check all of them. Btw I always feed my assistants.

Wednesday 8/14 Hudson Valley Region
Take 2 boxes that were harvested back to a Montgomery Apiary and check hives. 7 or 8 are there.
Go to Wallkill Winery. Pull weeds, check over 30 hives and hopefully harvest. I already have one helper for the day but the more hands the faster and easier the work. Please note: this is about 2 hours from my Glendale home base so we will be driving over 4 hours which makes it a longer day.

Thursday 8/15 - no plan yet leaving as an open/catch up day.

Friday 8/16 - no actual bee work (cooler, indoors and no stings) we will be extracting the honey harvest since Sunday. I have a helper but again 3 or 4 people total makes it go much better. I’ll order pizza for lunch. We will be in a school basement.

If you are interested in any of the above call Tom Wilk (917)513-2508. I will answer all questions and set us up to work together.

I have seen others charge to “teach” these aspects of bee work. Here you get an experienced Master Beekeeper “teaching” while you help, get fed and hopefully have a fun day all for just the cost of your time.

Thank you for reading this long email and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with you. Btw, taking pictures is of course encouraged.
