Women Light The World

Women Light The World We Educate And Empower Women As Agents Of Transformative Change In Their Communities in Rural Nepal.

After successfully training 3 indigenous Nepalese women to become "Solar Mamas" and supporting their journey to solar electrify 220 households, Women Light the World endeavours to establish its first local training centre. It will train 20 women every 4-month term and support the solar electrification of 1000 households each time, benefitting +7000 rural residents.

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and determination that women bring into the world every single day.

The courage to step forward to learn new skills.
The care and support that quietly reshapes communities.
The quiet leadership that helps others rise.

Women carry a light within them, one that inspires change, opens possibilities, and brightens the path for others.

We truly believe that when women rise, the world shines brighter. Wishing everyone a very happy women's day!

These images from 2021 capture our incredible Solar Mamas—women from remote Himalayan villages—assembling solar panels at dusk. Back then, they were lighting up their communities in Humla for the very first time.

Today, in Nepal, the climate crisis is real and rising.

🔌 Over 30% of rural Nepal still lacks reliable electricity.
🌡️ The Himalayas are warming twice as fast as the global average.
💧 Glaciers are retreating, and extreme weather events are on the rise.

In the face of these threats, the most powerful climate solutions are often local. And these women are lighting the way!

They aren’t just solar technicians. They are climate leaders, quietly building a resilient, renewable future—one household at a time.

Let’s invest in women. Let’s invest in local energy solutions. Let’s act now for a climate-safe future. ☀️🌱

Gratitude in Action ⚡️ 💪 💡
Strong partnerships create lasting change, and today, we express our heartfelt gratitude to K&A Engineering Consulting for stepping forward as a trailblazer.

With offices in the U.S., Nepal, and India, K&A Engineering is the first U.S.-based AMCHAM member in Nepal to support Women Light The World’s Women-Led Energy Revolution—a movement that empowers women to lead sustainable change in their mountain communities.

Their support has allowed three women from Jumla, Nepal, to participate in a five-month solar ☀️ engineering training program at Bindi International in Rajasthan, India. These women returned not only with skills but also with the power to transform their villages.

But the work is far from over.

Did you know that there are still 97,000 households without electricity in the Karnali District alone?

We are currently raising support to bring clean solar lighting to 153 households across two communities in Jumla—empowering women to lead this electrification effort and build a climate-resilient future.

As always, our implementation partner is the incredible Bindi International.
