Our Story
Our goal is to produce positive global change and instill a sense of hope for the future by promoting cross-cultural friendships between vulnerable youth in the US and Africa (host community). GYTI plans to cultivate and develop participants’ sense of individual responsibility, which starts with an awareness of self and the world they live in. Through cultural exchange initiatives we will take youth from some of the most impoverished communities in the Bronx NY, Trenton NJ and partner them with youth located in the Dominican republic (DR), Brazil and Africa. Participants will have opportunities to carry out projects that will result in immediate short-term change within the host communities. As the US youth delegates gains a global perspective of social issues, both groups (the Global Youth Team (GYT)) will collaborate to assess the needs of at-risk youth and create a strategic plan of action. US delegates will implement in their communities action plans upon their return home.
