Shubo Noboborsho from Bangladesh Development Project! Today marks the first day of the Bengali New Year (Pohela Boishakh), a celebration rooted in Mughal-era reforms under Emperor Akbar, who introduced the Bangla calendar to simplify tax collection. Over time, it evolved into a vibrant cultural festival symbolizing unity, renewal, and hope for the year ahead.

Eid Mubarak from all of us at Bangladesh Development Project 🇧🇩

As we celebrate with our loved ones, we’re thinking of those facing hardship around the world. This Eid, let’s hold space for both gratitude and compassion. Small acts of care, unity, and hope can go a long way 🫶🏽

Victory Day (বিজয় দিবস), also called Bijoy Dibosh in Bangla, is a national holiday observed on December 16th in Bangladesh that commemorates the country’s victory, marking the end of the nine-month-long Liberation War of 1971. Today is a day of pride and remembrance as we honor the martyrs who fought for our freedom and the preservation of our heritage.
