So sad to see all the changes in Englewood. While some may say progress is good... us whom have called this area our home for many years, 25 plus it is an insult.
Those claiming they are saving the area are liars.
This area is riddled with people that should not be here.
Not sure there is much hope. The water quality has dropped substantially, the laws are anti human and those whom over run our community with zero regard for the local families need to stay away.
Not much left here worth saving....actually there is nothing left.

Many have asked what will happen with events in Englewood this year. It is with heavy heart the board has made a decision about 2021. The following has been sent out to all area media outlets.

We look forward to new volunteers and fresh ideas for 2022!!

From the Englewood Pioneer Days Board of Directors:

With a glance down Dearborn Street during season, one would notice the traffic - both by foot and car - had increased substantially compared to last year. That being said, summer is upon us and our hope to return to normal increases by the day. The Englewood Pioneer Days Committee has been in contact to discuss plans for this year’s events. After talks with Sarasota County, the Committee has been made aware of the construction and improvements scheduled to start at the end of June or beginning of July.

The revamping of Dearborn Street is to take place all summer; the next phase: the Pioneer Park amphitheater to begin September 1. This major project is an attempt to give Englewood a better place to gather- with real restrooms and other amenities to make events easier to host and manage. This will take some time, although less than a year to complete.

Unfortunately, the timing is not in line with Pioneer Days Events. The Committee has looked into other options and avenues - quite literally - but there is not another safe option as far as the festival and parade are concerned.

It’s difficult to imagine missing yet another year of Pioneer Days Events; we will miss

everyone but with safety concerns and the construction - it just isn’t possible. We will need volunteers for next year and we hope to get more people. While Board meetings aren’t open to the public, we ask for residents to attend planning meetings and offer suggestions.
