CDH Awareness Day!

CDH is a congenital anomaly where part of the diaphragm does not fully develop allowing for abdominal organs to enter the chest. This impacts the lungs ability to develop properly.

Diagnosis Day for parents may feel like your world has just been flipped around. We here at
Charlie Polizzi's Warrior of the Angels are working with non-specialized hospitals and CDH centers to better understand diagnosing and treating CDH, while providing the essential support for parents during this traumatising time.

We here at Charlie Polizzi's Warrior of the Angels know the impact that a CDH diagnosis has on a family. Extended NICU stays, relocations and loss and grief carry heavy weights. Adding the layer of supporting older siblings holds an even deeper level of anxiety and stress as parents attempt to balance all aspects of their "new normal." We provide resources and personal experiences to help guide parents through this journey.

Today is . As CDH is considered rare, due to occuring in only 1 in 2,500 births, we spend this day building awareness. CDH has a fraction of the funding per person than other rare diseases.

We aim to change this. We as a CDH community need to work together to change the future for CDH babies.

Rare Disease Day is a day to build awareness and funding. To many it may just be a day, but for all of us at Chatlie Polizzi's Warrior of the Angels it is every day.
