No Need for Self-Loathing

People spend a lot of time worrying about what others are thinking of them. They even make decisions about what they “will do” or “not do” based on what others “might” think. But if you had the superhuman ability to hear people's thoughts you might be surprised to learn that no one is thinking bad thoughts about you. In fact, they are probably not thinking at you at all! They haven’t zoned in on your squeaky voice, how big your nose is or how terrible your hair looks. But, what you might overhear in their thoughts - is them worrying about what “YOU” think! It’s easy to imagine people are thinking all kinds of bad thoughts about you when in reality - they haven’t even noticed. So this begs the question: why allow your fears of what others “may think” to prevent you from living a fun-filled happy life? Instead of worrying about what others are thinking - concern yourself with what God thinks - for His thoughts about you is all that matters! God created you to be exactly the way you are and there is no need for self-loathing! Instead - thank Him for creating you just the way you are - and praise Him for being such an awesome Creator God! Humble or Be Humbled

No one is any better than anyone else! All men are created equal and God loves all His children just the same–He doesn’t play favorites! Unfortunately, we have all encountered someone who thinks they are better, smarter, more talented, and favored by God above all others, but they couldn’t be more deceived! When someone is always bragging about their accomplishments, or “tooting their own horn” as some would say, it is never very impressive because whatever might have been noteworthy becomes annoying and just plain irritating in the minds of all those who have to listen to them! Eyes roll and it’s hard to even be polite as they go on and on . . . singing their own praises! Well, guess what? Did you know that God doesn’t care for bragging either? In Luke 18:14 we’re told, “All those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” There is no room for pride in the heart of a Christian, period. All pride separates us from Jesus. The Bible says in James 4:6, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Remember to heed God’s words of warning in Proverbs 16:18, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” What is your choice–humble or “be humbled?” Text: Galatians 6:4, Isaiah 2:12, James 4:10, Philippians 2:3
