DUH aims to restore and improve education in the disaster affected areas (Miyagi prefecture, Iwate prefecture, F*kushima prefecture) by identifying and addressing each school’s specific educational needs. Every student and every school’s situation is different, which is why we allow schools in the affected areas to describe their specific circumstance and propose a suitable way to amend it. These
proposals will be collected and evaluated based on their feasibility by a panel of Japanese university professors in Japan. After all applications are reviewed and evaluated based on their feasibility, the school that best exemplifies the values of DUH/PYD will be awarded a donation of $1000 every month for 6 months. The funds will be wired to the school’s Japanese bank account whereby a proof of receipt will be issued by the school. Once the funds are received, the school will provide a proof or receipt for all purchases made with the donated funds and a 2 page report detailing how the funds were specifically used, and how it has affected the student community. In addition to the 2 page report, a paragraph detailing how the donations specifically affected the student’s life, and how they felt about the donation should be provided by 3 separate students.
