It’s BLOCK PARTY SEASON! 🎉

Yesterday, Elite Learners made sure to show up to multiple block parties that were taking place throughout Brooklyn, including events on Parkside Avenue and Hawthorne Avenue. We loved being able to connect with the community and come together following the Jamaican Parade! 🇯🇲

Despite the high heat, families and kids of all ages and cultures came through to have a fun-filled day with us that featured bouncy houses, snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy. We’re so grateful for all who came out!

Let’s keep the wheels turning! 🛼

Despite the heat, the community came out and rolled with us for our best Skate Night so far last night! 🔥

Families, friends, and neighbors enjoyed an evening of skating, music, pizza, and of course snow cones to help cool down. Whether it was their first time on the skates or they were seasoned professionals, everyone had the chance to make memories while enjoying the summer as a community!

National Night Out is a reminder that strong communities are built through connection, trust, and showing up for one another.

Elite Learners was proud to join our neighbors, community partners, and the 67th Precinct in Brooklyn for an evening of family fun, conversations, and celebrating what makes our borough so strong.

Every smile, every conversation, and every memory made brings us one step closer to creating safer, healthier neighborhoods where young people and families can continue to thrive.

We’ve been on a roll this summer (literally! 🛼), so last week our special family Movie Night was a calmer, peaceful change for the community.

Families joined us at PS 235 in Brooklyn for a special screening of ‘Moana 2’, which brought out all of the laughs, emotions and, of course, singing breaks! It was amazing to see so many families and community residents unite together for a fun, chill evening under the stars. 🌙 ✨

We invest in our youth so that they have all of the tools to invest in themselves. 💪

This week, Elite Learners hosted a special workshop for our men’s summer cohort that showed them some barbering and hairstyling expertise. Our young guys were able to learn some useful hand-on skills that can potentially lead to a new career path or goal for the future.

Our organization always prioritizes mentorship opportunities for our youth, which includes our junior staff who are paid to work alongside our senior staff for the summer.

Thank you NYC Young Men's Initiative for helping to make opportunities and workshops like this possible. We look forward to making a difference in the lives of our young men. 🙏

The strongest communities are built through safe environments, new memories and positive experiences ✨

Elite Learners is hosting our weekly Summer Series Skate Nights every Thursday all summer long, and so far each event has been full of good times, connections and roller skating talents! 🛼

It’s been amazing to see the community coming out each week to skate with us. We love being able to offer new opportunities to the youth, a positive space for families and sweet treats for every neighbor. 🍿🧡

While summer has brought a lot of celebrations for NYC, violence has unfortunately gone up in Brooklyn.

This past weekend, 2 separate shooting incidents injured two teenaged girls, with one taking place inside the President Street subway station, and the other in East New York.

Elite Learners got a chance to respond to the shootings with News 12 Brooklyn and also emphasize the importance of our work in preventing more violence. Watch the full news segment in the video to see our presence in the neighborhood.
